Auntie Megz
If there isn’t something that exists and you have a vision of what you want, you create it. That’s been the journey of Megan Godinenez, aka Auntie Megz, stepping into the shaping bay to construct a board that fits the way she wants to surf, rather than forcing her style to fit a board. Learning alongside her dad, they created a longboard that fits her powerful style. A board that could turn and rail like a short board, but still be able to walk the nose.
Megz is a professional surfer from O’ahu. I’ve always admired her style and power on a board, and after spending time with her over the years, I’ve come to admire her even more for the warmth and positive energy she brings to everyone she connects with. From her core, you can feel that she is the kind of person who wants to lift everyone up around her. If you’re surfing with her, you can bet she’ll be your biggest cheerleader, then take the next wave behind you and absolutely blow your mind with the style she brings. Anytime she’s on a wave people pay attention.
